SHEA CHIC participates in Poway High School Cheerleaders Fundraiser!

This past Saturday, SHEA CHIC participated in the 2nd Annual Poway Cheerleader's Shop-A-Rama Fundraiser.  What a great event this was!  We had the opportunity to meet many of the Poway Cheerleaders and introduce to them all of our SHEA CHIC products.  We also met many of the Cheerleader's younger sisters and help them figure out what their favorite SHEA CHIC fragrances are.  It's always fun meeting the pre-teen girls and helping them discover the wonderful girly world of fragraces.  Many of these young girls took their time and sampled every cream we brought, until they narrowed down their favorites.  I would recommend this event to anyone in the area.  It was a great experience and a lot of fun. ~April http://www.sheachic.com/

Ten years ago I moved to San Diego, California from Kansas City.  Kansas City is my hometown!  It's where I went to grade school, middle school and high school.  SHEA CHIC is coming home.  You will be able to buy SHEA CHIC at the Hy-Vee store in Shawnee, Kansas where many of my friends shop and live.  This is a full circle moment and has been a lot of work.  I have never created end cap signage, so I had a lot to learn in a short amount of time.  With the help of my Husband, Matt together we were able to create this beautiful signage for our end cap! This is a look at the the setup that will be in the Hy-Vee in Shawnee, Kansas and hopefully many more Hy-Vee's all over the Kansas City area. The moon was full, the temperature perfect and the birds were ready to party at the 1st Tropical Sunset Fundraiser for Free Flight in Del Mar, California. We donated our 'FALL'ing in Love Collection to their silent auction and had our HAPPILY EVER AFTER cream for everyone to sample.  It was a perfect evening with excellent entertainment in a tropical bird paradise.  The fundraiser couldn't have gone better.  It was an emotional memorial for our Avian Vet. Dr. Bob Stonebreaker who suddenly passed away this past year.  This sanctuary is his legacy and the evening was about keeping his legacy alive.  I couldn't have been more proud to be named as a sponsor for such a wonderful cause that is so dear to my heart. ~April http://www.sheachic.com/

Owning three exotic talking parrots myself, Free Flight in Del Mar is an organization near and dear to my heart.  Free Flight is a non-profit 501(c)(3) exotic bird sanctuary that takes in homeless and unwanted birds until they find their forever home.  Many people don't realize birds will live as long as we do, so they truly are a forever pet.  Free Flight relies heavily on donations and was mostly funded by Dr. Bob Stonebreaker until his sudden death this past year.  I've known this organization for years and they are an ethical, respected sanctuary that truly is a labor of love.  Many of the birds that live at Free Flight are too sick to be adopted out, but can be sponsored and visited.  I chose Free Flight as SHEA CHIC's Official Charity, because I believe in this organization and have seen how wonderful they treat the birds that are there.  If you are ever in Del Mar, California you won't want to miss visiting this open sanctuary.  If you would also like to sponsor an exotic bird and help Free Flight, please call 858-481-3148 and ask for Mary.  She has been with Free Flight for 18 years and is in the video holding Chloe, our SHEA CHIC sponsored bird.

On October 17, 2010 SHEA CHIC participated in our very first booth faire at the Escondido Street Faire.  Although it was a cold and misty day,  it was a big day for SHEA CHIC.  Since, we sell our products over the internet or through spa's and boutiques, we don't often meet our customers face to face. This gave us the opportunity to meet our customers and see the expressions on their faces when they saw our products and tested our fragrances.  It was so wonderful to see the excitement and pleasure on their face when they found their favorite SHEA CHIC soaps and creams. Wrapping up their purchases and seeing so many people walking around with SHEA CHIC pink bags was a thrilling feeling. This faire was a lot of work, but well worth it. Love Story A: A Summer Crush

Her first glance at him created bombs blasting in her chest,

clouds around her head, causing her hand to shake. Oops!  Oh dear, here comes the clerk, running to clean up the broken bottle of Drama Queen lotion that dropped. “Just because you bought Naked Cream, Linda,” (talking to herself), “doesn‟t mean you can act like you‟re thirty.” However, thirty was exactly half her age and exactly how she felt. “Well,” she mused calming herself, “it‟s always nice to know the antenna still works!”

When leaving Shea Chic Botique, she slowed by the mirror wanting another look at dark and handsome. “Not bad for a sixty year old,” she thought. Wait! Amazing! Behind her reflection, he was looking straight at her! She felt like a naughty girl with a summer crush!

Months later, on their date night, Linda remembered his shyness. He probably felt vulnerable then, as she had. "Kiss me”, she told him on a misty twilight evening after building her own courage. His reactions were sponteaneous, magically, without thought. The kiss, wow, she felt spoiled rotten. Movies had been their snuggle time, their happy place, until that kiss. Why did she ask for that first kiss? She believed it was true love and happily every after sounded really good.

Love Story B: Love From Above

Olivia slurped the thick froth from her cappuccino and studied the cozy couple in the booth nearby. She, with her striking red locks, gazing into his piercing, blue eyes. He, with his blonde, Ken-doll hair, speaking softly near her face. Their lips were but a few inches apart.Olivia waited for the kiss; the type of kiss she’d experienced but once in her life. The kiss she would never, ever forget.

At first glance, she knew he was the one: black, spiked hair, smart spectacles and a smile that warmed her every organ. Mmmm. Tom. Olivia stared into her mug and reminisced. She had never dreamed their first date night would be their last. Dinner and wine, an outdoor concert and sitting beneath the stars … it had been the most romantic night of her young dating life. And when Tom whispered the words, “Kiss me,” while holding her in his arms under the Big Dipper, her knees fell weak.
Olivia smiled, put her red lips to the mug and longed for that snuggle time just once more. But what she once hoped to be true love, wasn’t. Tom ended their kiss with words she never dreamed she’d hear.
“I have a confession,” he said.
Olivia stared up into his alluring, brown eyes. They oozed with the innocence of an untrained puppy.
I forgive you! she thought.
“See that planet up there?” Tom pointed to a small dot in the dark sky. “That’s where I’m from.”
Olivia sighed. So much for happily ever after.

Love Story C: Love Story

I wasn’t looking for anything serious and the idea of a life-long commitment made me shudder.  When I allowed myself to think about it, I imagined it as

a possibility years from now when life wasn’t so hectic.  That was until I met Jake.

At first glance he wasn’t what I usually found attractive.  His thick black hair was in desperate need of a trim and he was a little too scrawny. Then he looked at me with his beautiful brown eyes and I melted.  He made me laugh with his silly antics and I could tell how intelligent and sweet he was, but I was still reluctant when my friend urged me to take him out. I finally caved and we went downtown to walk and get to know each other.  At first he walked too far ahead of me, but quickly sensing my annoyance he returned to my side.  I could tell by the smiling glances of shoppers and couples out on date night that despite his appearance, or maybe because of it, we made an interesting pair. I was warming to the idea of spending more time with Jake so I took him home with me.  He tried to kiss me in the car.  I laughed and gently pushed him away telling him to behave.  At my house sitting on the couch, he inched closer and closer to me determined to have some snuggle time.  Resigned to my fate, I let him snuggle up beside me knowing we would spend our evenings like this for many years to come.

When I least expected it, I had found my true love in this scraggly mutt and Jake had found his forever home.  After a trip to the groomer and fattening him up a bit, we would live happily ever after.

I have been intrigued with traveling since I was a little girl! I remember

not being able to sleep in my bedroom back in Kansas City, the night
before a trip to California. I was only three or four years old but I

my head, if there was a need for travel agents any longer due to the
internet. After some extensive research, I believe there is! Booking a
trip for yourself online can be overwhelming and very time consuming!
There is so much information out there! And most importantly, why
would you want to risk your Honeymoon, or that dream vacation
you’ve saved and saved for, to an online booking agent? Let someone
handle your trip that has knowledge of what is a good value, a luxurious
resort or which rental car companies not to use! A good travel agent
will get to know you, what you like to do on vacation and exactly what
you are looking for in your trip! I also work through a large travel
consortium where I am able to obtain special deals and perks you can’t
find anywhere else! I also have access to online webinars and trainings
on many destinations to further my knowledge and keep me updated
on all things travel! I love to do research and find the best value for
what you are looking for! I LOVE my job! And, in most cases, there is
no fee for my services!

What a close competition this was! The stats drastically changed numerous times. If you followed this competition, then you know what I'm talking about! 

Let me start by thanking both DANNY THOMAS and DARREN LARSEN.  These two have made this Charity Fundraiser possible. Words cannot convey my gratitude. You both played a clean competition and passionately encouraged everyone to participate in this Fundraiser.  I thank you both for making this SOAP KING Charity Fundraiser so much fun and such a success.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  

We will be sending a check for $110 to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.) I hope we can do more of these fundraisers in the future and add a few zeros to the check we donate, but we have to start somewhere. Not bad, for SHEA CHIC only being open one month.

Also, thank you to everyone who participated and followed our SOAP KING competition.  Your involvement in our first Charity Fundraiser is greatly appreciated.  I didn't know what to expect and this has far surpassed what I ever thought imaginable!
