SHEA CHIC...WORKING from HOME!

My SHEA CHIC "Summer Office." Sitting with me is Tai Tai.
Now, did you really think that I could accomplish anything
outside without one of our pets helping?
Working from home has been a wonderful, yet challenging experience.  While, it's nice having a very short commute and even shorter morning routine, it's become much more challenging in other ways that I didn't expect.  I've had to become more aware of my time management and stop spending so much time with my four dogs and three parrots in the morning. I've also found that socialization outside of my home has actually become a goal on my weekly "to do" list. Really? Socializing now needs a check mark beside it? The things I've discovered about myself is that I really enjoy being alone with my thoughts.  I truly relish going down to my SHEA CHIC Shop and immersing myself in a new creation or even creating an existing product.  There's something nice about following a recipe and knowing exactly how it's going to turn out.  There's a comfort in knowing that I've done this before and the outcome is going to be just as wonderful as it was many times before. Now, that it's summer I have added a "new" office... my backyard.  This is where I start my day, collect my thoughts and drink my morning coffee. I now have a strict daily planning procedure through DAYLITE on my Mac.  The night before I plan out my day and each morning at my new Summer office, I do my fb, twitter, and blogging.  Right now, I'm sitting here listening to our beautiful chime, while watching the palms slowly blow in the wind. If I'm not careful, before I know it I've lost a half hour and then there goes my schedule. I've got so many things that I want to do with SHEA CHIC and if I'm not careful, I can be overwhelmed and running in circles, while not really accomplishing anything.  So, if you're thinking about working from home, I strongly suggest that you put a strict plan in place and work seriously on your time management skills.  Remember you can be the boss you've always wanted, but never had.  You've just been promoted, now take charge and have a plan. You can do this! ~April
