I have been intrigued with traveling since I was a little girl! I remember

not being able to sleep in my bedroom back in Kansas City, the night
before a trip to California. I was only three or four years old but I
remember vividly the anticipation of the adventure ahead. We drove
all that way in a VW Bug with no air conditioning, but that didn’t put a
damper on all the excitement I felt! I was bitten by the travel bug from that day forward!
I went to Europe in high school with my French class and that just
furthered my interest in travel!
I started working as a travel agent at a brick and mortar agency back in
1985 and was able to travel extensively throughout the United States,
including Hawaii, Canada, and Mexico. I worked as a corporate and
leisure agent for 12 years before full time motherhood took over my
life!
Now that my children are in school full time and I finally have the
time to devote to a career, I’ve decided to start my own business as a
travel agent once again! I wondered when this idea first popped into
my head, if there was a need for travel agents any longer due to the
internet. After some extensive research, I believe there is! Booking a
trip for yourself online can be overwhelming and very time consuming!
There is so much information out there! And most importantly, why
would you want to risk your Honeymoon, or that dream vacation
you’ve saved and saved for, to an online booking agent? Let someone
handle your trip that has knowledge of what is a good value, a luxurious
resort or which rental car companies not to use! A good travel agent
will get to know you, what you like to do on vacation and exactly what
you are looking for in your trip! I also work through a large travel
consortium where I am able to obtain special deals and perks you can’t
find anywhere else! I also have access to online webinars and trainings
on many destinations to further my knowledge and keep me updated
on all things travel! I love to do research and find the best value for
what you are looking for! I LOVE my job! And, in most cases, there is
no fee for my services!

CHARITY FUNDRAISER

What a close competition this was! The stats drastically changed numerous times. If you followed this competition, then you know what I'm talking about! 

Let me start by thanking both DANNY THOMAS and DARREN LARSEN.  These two have made this Charity Fundraiser possible. Words cannot convey my gratitude. You both played a clean competition and passionately encouraged everyone to participate in this Fundraiser.  I thank you both for making this SOAP KING Charity Fundraiser so much fun and such a success.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  

We will be sending a check for $110 to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.) I hope we can do more of these fundraisers in the future and add a few zeros to the check we donate, but we have to start somewhere. Not bad, for SHEA CHIC only being open one month.

Also, thank you to everyone who participated and followed our SOAP KING competition.  Your involvement in our first Charity Fundraiser is greatly appreciated.  I didn't know what to expect and this has far surpassed what I ever thought imaginable! Hopefully this will be the first of many SHEA CHIC Charity Fundraisers.

SHEA CHIC has just announced our very first Charity Fundraiser.  The competition will be between DANNY THOMAS and DARREN LARSEN, both Truman High School Legends!  I will create a custom Shea Butter Body Soap Bar for each of them, however they will choose the color and name of their own bar. A timeframe will be given and whoever sells the most bars will be crowned SHEA CHIC SOAP KING 2010 and he gets to choose which charity will receive the doations.  SHEA CHIC will donate $1.00 for every bar of DANNY THOMAS and DARREN LARSEN soap sold during this SOAP OFF. SHEA CHIC Celebration Dinner

SHEA CHIC is now officially 20 days old! We have not stopped, since our opening August 01, 2010.  So, my Mom surprised us with a little impromptu celebration dinner with balloons, SHEA CHIC cake and all.  I wanted to share this moment with you, because you never know where this little company could go.  Before you know it, we could be at your local store and hopefully a household name. Wouldn't that be fun! Then we all could say... remember when! You never know what the future brings, I've just got to keep working hard and shoot for the stars! ~April
